Truth is a pathless land j krishnamurti10/3/2023 ![]() Is that perfect?! No! Of course not! And why not? Because, we do not know every single variable in the relational properties of reality, but yet, at any given moment, we can pinpoint certain causes and effects and predict quite well certain results. This is the observation that science and philosophy has taught us for many many centuries. We test it again and again and again to make sure we are understanding what the path (relationship between A and B) is telling us. ![]() The relationship is the path, and the path explains itself to us. We poke at A and B and we observe the relationship. ![]() The path is NOT described by one’s conditioning or likes and dislikes, but by observation and experimentation. The relationship between some truth A and some other truth B is a path. By path we mean a mechanism from A to B or between A and B. These relationships are not random and most certainly not “a pathless land”. The relationship between “a portion of reality” with another “portion of reality” presupposes a mechanism, or in other words a path. If truth is a “relational property”, which science and philosophy agree on, then it stands to reason that it’s not about A or B, but about the relations between A and B (A >-< B). Source: (The Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy) “Truth is a relational property involving a characteristic relation to some portion of reality.” Science and reason will not let you run too far with it. So, the opinion that “Truth is a pathless land” should be taken with a grain of salt, and it is wise not to grab it blindly at its face-value and run with it. So, according to K, opinion is not truth and you should not listen to mere opinion, it doesn’t matter whose it is! I give him that for being honest and every just individual should acknowledge that. “… opinion is not truth therefore do not listen to mere opinion, it does not matter whose it is…” He had made many references to opinions as being non-factual and they can be verified by numerous references from his talks and writings: So K made a statement, and on that occasion he was honest enough to add that his conviction, i.e., “Truth is a pathless land” was just ‘his own point of view’, which means that’s just his own opinion, and as he said, “Opinions are something that has NOT been proved.” Based on the entire body of his teachings, it means, it is not a proven fact. “Opinions are something that has not been proved.” “That-is-my-point-of-view” means ‘that is my opinion’. The answer is no-of course not! That’s why he was honest about it and in that same quote which is part of his speech, he adds: “That is my point of view”. ![]() When K said: “Truth is a pathless land”-is that a real fact? Is that is par with science and reason? Does it have to be? Was he making an objective philosophical claim? That is my point of view, and I adhere to that absolutely and unconditionally.” “I maintain that Truth is a pathless land, and you cannot approach it by any path whatsoever, by any religion, by any sect. ![]()
